Renton man dies in Bellevue crash

Female passenger suffers injuries, police investigating

Sunday at 8:23 p.m., Bellevue Police responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on the 15400 block of Lake Hills Boulevard. When officers arrived, they located a 2016 Ducati motorcycle in the roadway and a man on the ground. The man, later determined to be the driver of the motorcycle, was declared dead at the scene.

The deceased man is a 53-year-old Renton resident. A passenger on the motorcycle, a 53-year-old woman, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined that the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Lake Hills Boulevard at the time of the crash. Investigators believe that the driver of the motorcycle attempted to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone and struck a center median in the roadway.

Police do not suspect impairment in this collision. Lake Hills Boulevard was closed for approximately seven hours as police investigated, and was reopened to traffic shortly after 3 a.m.
