The 2011-2012 Human Needs Update is now available.

The City of Bellevue publishes the Human Services Needs Update at the beginning of each two-year funding cycle. Since 1989 this report has offered a summary of human services trends, needs and gaps in Bellevue, East King County, King County and Washington. The Needs Update helps the Human Services Commission develop focus areas for funding recommendations to the City Council, guides the city’s Human Services division and provides information for other city departments, faith communities, concerned community groups and nonprofit health and human services providers in King County.

Over the past four years, the economic recession has taken its toll on Bellevue residents; many people continue to need help providing basic needs for themselves and their families. The challenge is that the demand for these basic needs, like food, housing and health care, continues to increase while fewer financial resources are available. The 2011-2012 Human Services Needs Update provides a snapshot of what those needs are, and also, how the City of Bellevue and other groups in the community are coming together to respond to the continued economic downturn in creative and collaborative ways.
