Healthy, vibrant neighborhoods are the city’s greatest asset. Working with residents to protect that asset is the mission and the daily business of the Neighborhood Outreach Team.

Call us any time you have a question, suggestion or concern about residential life in Bellevue. Neighborhood Outreach is your place to turn for information or assistance. Major Outreach programs and services include:

Neighborhood Enhancement Program – Building neighborhood improvement projects that residents select as their highest priorities, including sidewalks, walkways, playgrounds and mini-parks.
Neighborhood Match Program – Matching the neighborhood’s investment in projects that boost community pride and appearance. Examples include neighborhood entries and landscaping.
- Little Match – Offering matching grants to help neighborhoods offset the expenses of organizing or revitalizing a neighborhood association.
Neighborhood Livability Action Agenda – A dynamic strategy for responding to emerging needs and concerns, focusing on two major issues:
- Neighborhood Character impacts of redevelopment and infill, including loss of trees and greenscape, privacy infringement, and construction impacts
- Neighborhood Fitness, or private property maintenance in older neighborhoods.
Neighborhood Investment Strategy – Nationally recognized program for enhancing the livability of older neighborhoods.
Neighborhood Identity Project – Working with residents to develop visual treatments that identify neighborhoods and reflect their unique character. The focus for 2008 is on Newport Hills and Lake Heights.
Crossroads Mini City Hall – In the forefront of Neighborhood Outreach work with Bellevue’s diverse populations, a neighborhood service center operating six days a week and offering services in nine languages. Located in the Crossroads Shopping Center, the mini city hall provides east Bellevue residents with a neighborhood location for conducting city business and gaining access to community resources.
Neighborhood Liaison Program – Extending the city’s outreach into neighborhoods through a team of staff who serve as the residents’ “inside connection” to information and resources.
Neighborhood News – A monthly newsletter for neighborhood associations and active residents, and Bellevue by the Numbers – A handy calling guide for finding key community services in a hurry (in English and Spanish).
Neighborhood Organizing – Maintaining current information about Bellevue neighborhood associations, and offering assistance to residents seeking to organize or revitalize a neighborhood association.

Playground

In addition to offering the above services, Neighborhood Outreach collaborates with other city departments and community agencies to sponsor community events and classes, provide meeting speakers, solve problems and provide seamless service to neighborhoods.
